Look at your dial and note which way the lines run.
On your 41.5mm Aqua Terra they run vertically — fine, close-set grooves top to bottom, closer to pinstriped suiting than to anything nautical. Omega describes the dials on the current Aqua Terra range as a horizontal teak pattern, and that is not a small distinction: in 2017 the whole line was redrawn and the lines were turned on their side.
Which means almost everything written about Aqua Terra styling today is written about a dial yours does not have. Your watch is the tailored one. That is worth knowing before you choose a strap.
The fit: 20mm
The 231.10.42.21.03.001 is the 41.5mm case, and the lug width is 20mm.
You have two routes, and it is worth knowing both:
- Our Aqua Terra straps are built around this family and run 18mm, 19mm, 20mm and 21mm. Select 20mm. The dropdown opens on 18mm, which fits no mainstream Aqua Terra at all, so change it. And set Buckle Colour to Silver if your watch came on the bracelet — that dropdown defaults to "No Buckle," which is right only for someone reusing an Omega deployant they already own.

What you own
A 41.5mm steel case, 13mm thick with a 48mm lug-to-lug, on a steel bracelet with a push-button folding clasp. Water resistant to 150 metres, with a screw-down crown and a domed sapphire crystal that is anti-reflective on both sides.
The dial is sun-brushed and lacquered blue with the date at 3 o'clock — where the 2017 redesign moved it to 6 and made the dial symmetrical. Inside is the Co-Axial calibre 8500 with roughly 60 hours of reserve, visible through the transparent caseback.
One more thing about this generation that matters below: the bracelet is entirely brushed. Omega did not introduce a polished centre link on the Aqua Terra until later in the run. So you have a lacquered, light-catching dial sitting above a completely matte band — a genuine mismatch, and one of the better reasons to take it off.
Choosing for a pinstripe, not a boat deck
Here is the practical consequence of those vertical lines.
A horizontal pattern runs across the dial and reads as decking — which is why the current range gets described in sailing language. A vertical pattern runs with the length of the watch, and it reads the way vertical lines always do on anything: formal, narrow, tailored. It is much closer to a suit than a yacht.
So the useful question on this reference is not "how nautical do I want it." It is how formal. And because the dial is lacquered and already catches light, the strap's job is to stay calm underneath it rather than compete.
Four that work, from most formal to least.
1. Full blue — let the stripes be the only texture
The strongest pick here, and the reason is specific to this dial. A lacquered blue dial with fine vertical grooves has plenty going on already. Put a solid blue strap under it and the watch becomes one continuous field of colour, with the stripes as the only pattern anywhere on it.
On a horizontal teak dial that would flatten the effect. On a vertical one it does the opposite — it gives the lines somewhere to lead. This is also the version that looks most expensive, which is usually what people want from a 41.5mm Aqua Terra in the first place. Full Blue rubber strap →
2. Black with a white line — the tailored answer
A fine light line running the length of a dark strap is doing the same visual job your dial is doing: one clean linear detail against a plain ground. Nothing else in the range echoes a pinstriped dial as directly.

3. Full black — make the blue the only colour
The neutral, and on a blue dial it earns its place. Black rubber removes every competing tone from the wrist so the dial's blue is the only colour on the watch — which, on a lacquered dial that shifts between navy and bright blue depending on the light, is the setting that shows it off best.

4. Blue with a white line — the nautical read anyway
Your stripes may run the wrong way for the sailing story, but the watch is still a Seamaster with 150 metres behind it, and blue-and-white is still the combination that says so.
