Here's the tension worth naming, because it decides what you put on it.
Every diving credential on this watch is real and intact. Three hundred metres. A screw-in crown and a helium escape valve at 10 o'clock. The opposite decision and a genuinely striking one. A white rubber strap extends the ceramic dial rather than the bezel, which flips the balance completely: now the blue bezel is the only colour anywhere on the watch, framed top and bottom by white. It's the summer configuration, it photographs better than anything else here, and it's the version that makes people ask what the blue is.
3. Black — make both of them read
The neutral, and neutral is doing real work on a two-colour watch. A black rubber strap adds nothing and takes nothing away, which means the white reads whiter and the blue reads deeper than against either of their own colours. It's also the most wearable of the four across a working week, and the one that makes a special edition look like a plain good watch — which some owners very much want.
4. Orange — the complement
Not obvious, and the most interesting thing on this page. Orange sits directly opposite blue on the colour wheel, which is precisely why dive equipment uses the pair: put an orange rubber strap under this watch and the blue bezel reads bluer than it does against any blue strap you could buy.
